CAC School Outreach Program Application2022-2023

Each year, 12-14 schools are chosen to be part of the School Outreach Program. School administrators choose one classroom/group, grades 2-12, to participate.

These classrooms/groups may not exceed 50 students. Each classroom/group must have a dedicated cooperating teacher.

Cooperating teachers will work with the School Program and Tours Manager and a docent to schedule visit. Cooperating teachers will work with the CAC staff to create and implement curricular connections.

School Outreach Program classrooms receiv

e approximately five (6) 45-90 minute sessions with CAC docents and staff, which includes an orientation session to be facilitated at the school at the beginning of the year which includes an art supply kit and an activity; two visits to the CAC featuring docent-led tours and discussion and the choice of two of the following:

  • a Performance in the Classroom session.

  • an in-class artist visit that features a hands-on art-making activity tied to CAC exhibitions and the artist’s practice.

  • a visit to a local artist’s studio, introducing students to a working artist and enabling them to learn first-hand about careers in the arts and art-making techniques/materials that might not be accessible through their school. (Elementary school participants may choose a second artist visit to replace the studio visit.)
